Audrey-songhurstB

Hi, my name is Audrey Songhurst.   I started at the University in 1999 as a Project Officer then Project Manager (EU funded projects) and am now the Director of the Research and Enterprise Development Centre (RED) – a role which I am proud to have held since 2006.

My main responsibilities include leading, directing and managing the operational activities of RED and contributing to its strategic development, with a focus on diversifying and maximising income generation across the university and contributing to local economic growth. This means actively engaging with key strategic stakeholders such as the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP), Kent County Council (KCC), Kent and Medway Economic Partnership (KMEP), Local Authorities, HE, FE and Business support organisations such as the Chambers of Commerce and the National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB).

RED comprises 16 (13.7fte) highly knowledgeable, experienced and qualified staff whose remit it to provide a wide range of professional services to facilitate and support the development of Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) activities across the University.  Services include supporting the development of funding applications, funding searches, capacity building and staff development, project management support and advice, policy development, brokering and developing mutually beneficial relationships with external organisations, as well as management and coordination of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) processes.

I am always happy to discuss any aspect of RED’s work so please feel free to contact me audrey.songhurst@canterbury.ac.uk
