You have an opportunity to have a say in how Medway meets it’s future needs…
We are one of the largest urban areas in the south east. In 2015 our population had grown to 276,472, and this is projected to increase to 330,200 by 2035.
The aim of the Local Plan is to ensure that Medway has a managed growth, to ensure we provide the land for up to 30,000 new homes, plus land to create jobs, infrastructure and the services that people are going to need. This has to be balanced with protecting and enhancing the qualities of the area’s environment, heritage and community facilities.
The Medway Local Plan looks forward to 2035, to Future Medway, considering which areas are most suitable for development, and which places need for protection.
The consultation process will start on Monday, 16 January until Monday, 6 March 2017.
The consultation will provide a basis to decide the most appropriate development strategy, and the policies required to deliver the aspirations for the area.
Visit Future Medway to review development options and to input your opinion by completing the survey (the survey will be available from Monday, 16 January 2017 to Monday, 6 March 2017).
