NIHR announces 46 Senior Investigators for 2019 – The NIHR has announced the names of the 46 researchers who have been appointed as NIHR Senior Investigators in the 2019 round of awards. Senior Investigators provide research leadership to the NIHR, promoting clinical and applied research in health and social care, and constitute a network of experts able to provide advice to the Department of Health and Social Care. 

NIHR seeking members of the public to help shape health and social care research – The NIHR is currently looking for patients, carers and members of the public with lived experience of health, services and social care to join national and regional committees. Applicants should have a broad interest in health and social care issues beyond their own lived experience.

Associate Deans sought for NIHR Academy – The NIHR Academy is looking for two passionate and forward-thinking individuals to help drive its strategic vision in the roles of Associate Deans. The roles will have a focus on either Infrastructure and Capacity Building Structures or Integrated Pathways, with both working across the NIHR Academy programme structure

Research Development (RD) is part of the Department of Enterprise, Employability and Research Development. RD is responsible for ensuring that Research and Enterprise is of the highest quality and meets all required internal and external standards, including managing the institutional submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). RD leads on development and implementation of the institutional research and enterprise integrity policies, processes and best practice. It also hosts the institutional Staff Researcher Development Programme and the Early Career Researcher Programme SPARC, and is responsible for the annual Research Internship programme. RD provides strategic and targeted support for academic staff to seek and secure funding for their research and innovation activities. This includes identification of core funding opportunities and support for proposal development, alongside strategic advice and support for faculties to develop their research portfolio and capacity.
