This supports new, interdisciplinary initiatives concerned with the advancement or promotion of research in the psychology of music or music education. One award, worth up to £3,000, is available each year.

Gerry Farrell travelling scholarships

These support travel in pursuit of identified research objectives, namely music education and music psychology, in the UK or abroad. Four scholarships, totalling up to £4,000, are offered each year.

New investigator award

Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, GB

This supports individuals who have recently acquired their first academic lectureship position but have not previously led an academic research group or been the recipient of a significant grant. Supported projects may last one to three years.

Professional internships for PhD students

Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, GB

These enable the council’s doctoral training partnership PhD students to carry out a work placement unrelated to their doctoral research during their PhD, and gain experience of working in corporate policy and strategy, science and innovation policy, public engagement or project management at the BBSRC Swindon office. Up to eight placements per year are available, each tenable for three months.

About CCCU Research Development

Research Development (RD) is part of the Department of Enterprise, Employability and Research Development. RD is responsible for ensuring that Research and Enterprise is of the highest quality and meets all required internal and external standards, including managing the institutional submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). RD leads on development and implementation of the institutional research and enterprise integrity policies, processes and best practice. It also hosts the institutional Staff Researcher Development Programme and the Early Career Researcher Programme SPARC, and is responsible for the annual Research Internship programme. RD provides strategic and targeted support for academic staff to seek and secure funding for their research and innovation activities. This includes identification of core funding opportunities and support for proposal development, alongside strategic advice and support for faculties to develop their research portfolio and capacity.
