NIHR shares progress on implementation of the Restart Framework – On 21 May 2020, the NIHR published a Framework for the restarting of research paused due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was intended to provide a structure to guide the restarting of a full range of NIHR research, while maintaining local decision-making and flexibility. You can read more about the progress made.

NIHR and UKRI move to new phase of COVID-19 research funding – The NIHR and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) have announced an evolution in their funding of COVID-19 research, having awarded more than Ā£32 million into urgent research to tackle the acute phase of the pandemic.

As the UK moves through the first wave of the COVID-19 outbreak, the nature of the questions that need to be addressed are changing. To meet the needs of this new environment, the NIHR-UKRI rapid response rolling funding call closed on 30 June 2020, and other funding opportunities at NIHR and UKRI have opened.

About CCCU Research Development

Research Development (RD) is part of the Department of Enterprise, Employability and Research Development. RD is responsible for ensuring that Research and Enterprise is of the highest quality and meets all required internal and external standards, including managing the institutional submission to the Research Excellence Framework (REF). RD leads on development and implementation of the institutional research and enterprise integrity policies, processes and best practice. It also hosts the institutional Staff Researcher Development Programme and the Early Career Researcher Programme SPARC, and is responsible for the annual Research Internship programme. RD provides strategic and targeted support for academic staff to seek and secure funding for their research and innovation activities. This includes identification of core funding opportunities and support for proposal development, alongside strategic advice and support for faculties to develop their research portfolio and capacity.
